This blog is about my own interactions with society. It has a variety of comedic styles, but has a very heavy sarcastic tone. Please take everything with a heavy grain of salt.
My name is Michael Shepherd, though I’ve been called Mike, Shep, and even Fucktard before. I tend to respond best to Fucktard or Hey You, but I prefer Shep or some form of Mike.
I am part of the modern-hipster/conformists generation. I’m pretty sure I heard that “the plague generation” is the generally understood name of the generation, but I’ll explain it for those not in the know.
We are the hipsters that frequent the coffee shops studying on our laptops. We just don’t care. We are the people who wear vintage clothing as a statement of nonconformity. The people who listen to indie music due to the raw nature and the underground, anti-corporation roots of the music.
PSA: a true hipster will torrent/illegally download such music since buying coffee everyday will push $10 albums out of the affordability range for a student’s budget. Word-of-mouth to our like hipster friends is payment enough for the music.
We also house the conformists. The ones who worry about what people think about them. They spit on the hipster culture, believing that hipsters are conformists as well. They “listen to every music genre” because they enjoy one rap song and those country songs that sound just like modern pop music.
If you were wondering where I fit in…I didn’t so much. I tried too hard to be a hipster and was too lazy to be a conformist. The fringe groups never fit me as well. So if I had to label myself, I’d be a mega-hyper-wannabe-hipster-anti-conformist-counter-culture-ultimate person. Oh yeah, and I like adjectives.
